Mr. Grant is a highly experienced Digital Forensics Investigator and Expert with more than 25 years of specialized experience in digital forensics, cellular analysis, social media investigations, eDiscovery, and litigation support. He holds numerous industry-recognized certifications, including AccessData Certified Examiner (ACE), Cellebrite Certified Operator (CCO), Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA), Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner (CCME), Cellebrite Certified Advanced Smartphone Analysis Examiner (CASA), Cellebrite Certified Advanced Smartphone Extraction Examiner (CASE), Cellebrite Certified Evidence Repair Technician – Forensics (CERT-F), Cellebrite Iron Python Certified (CIP), and Cellebrite Chip-Off Forensics Certified (CCOF). In addition to his forensic expertise, Mr. Grant has a strong technical background as a systems analyst, programmer, and trainer. He has been involved in many state and federal cases and has been qualified as an expert over 60 times.
Mr. Grant is currently an Independent Digital Forensics Investigator and Consultant, providing expert analysis, reporting, and testimony in State and Federal matters. His areas of specialization include computer and mobile device forensics, cell site analysis, email analysis, social media investigations, and complex eDiscovery. He routinely conducts forensic extractions and examinations of digital evidence, prepares detailed reports, and supports litigation teams through all phases of discovery and trial.
Mr. Grant retired from the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Western District of New York, where he served as an Investigator specializing in Digital Forensics. During his tenure, he conducted forensic examinations and analysis in numerous Federal cases and was qualified as an expert in digital forensics. Prior to this role, he served as the Computer Systems Administrator for the Western District of New York Federal Public Defender’s Office and as the Acting Chief of the National IT LAN Application and Policy Support Team for the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, Office of Defender Services. In these roles, he provided leadership and technical oversight for automation programs and supported national initiatives related to IT infrastructure and digital forensic capabilities within the Federal Defender Organization.
In addition to his casework, Mr. Grant is an active educator and presenter, frequently lecturing at national and regional conferences and providing both group and individualized training on digital forensic methodologies, tools, and best practices. He is based out of Western New York but travels frequently around the country. He is involved with many projects related to digital forensics and litigation support.
Mr. Grant holds an Associate of Science degree in Computer Programming from Bryant & Stratton Business Institute and has completed extensive advanced training in digital forensics, computer systems, mobile technologies, and cellular analysis. His combination of technical expertise, investigative experience, and courtroom testimony positions him as a highly qualified and credible expert in the field of digital forensics.
